Craig has been playing golf since he was 5 years old. He has been working in the golf industry in various forms since 1992 when he travelled to Japan to work as a golf caddy and caddy trainer. He spent 3 years in Japan caddying, training caddies, playing amateur tournaments and learning the Japanese language . During this time in Japan he began to teach golf and also working as an interpreter and instructor at golf schools in Japan for some the best coaches from Australia and Japan. Upon returning to Australia Craig moved into a role as Golf Programs Manager for Victoria University in Melbourne Australia, which involved travelling to various Asian destinations selling golf educational programs to those interested in a career in professional golf or working in the golf industry in general. He also set up and ran his own successful indoor golf centre for 6 years. In order to constantly improve his teaching skills he has completed various courses and most recently becoming an accredited (level 3) instructor with Gary Edwin Golf.
Craig
describes his teaching technique as simple and minimalist; he has
learnt that to fix a bad motion you need to find its cause. Good
players get into position early and have no need for compensations in
the swing. Their swings are powerful, repeatable and efficient. He
believes anybody can learn to be a great golfer if they have an
understanding of a few simple concepts.
